During World War II, the German army employed half-track vehicles, which ensured high mobility under all environmental conditions and on all types of terrain, for a variety of purposes through specialised versions and configurations. The Sd.Kfz. 10/4 was specifically designed to carry the 20mm FlaK 30 anti-aircraft gun mounted on a reinforced platform. It was used to protect troops on the move and convoys of tanks and vehicles from low-altitude enemy air attacks. The vehicle could carry up to eight soldiers and provided an effective solution for close-range air defence for ground forces. It was also frequently used in support of infantry operations, utilising its 20mm weapon against ground defensive installations.
