Bf 109E-3 became the first mass-produced German fighters. They took part in Polish, Norwegian and French campaigns in 1939-1940. During the Battle of Britain (August-October 1940) Bf 109E-4 fighters entered service. The main difference was the new canopy with armoured windscreen. Bf 109E-7\/Trop had special tropical equipment.
