It was based upon the Kübelwagen Type 82 off-road car and featured a water-tight pressed metal hull\/body, plus four-wheel drive. Using the same air-cooled horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engine as the Kubelwagen, it could make 80 km\/h on land and – using its three-bladed screw – 10 km\/h in the water; it also had an extra low gear for use in disengaging from poor terrain.
