Production began in 1937, and early \"A\" variants were powered by a 100hp, 4,171cc inline-six engine. Its half-track running gear was a huge plus on uneven terrain, and it could transport up to ten soldiers, or equally effectively pull guns and other trailers. It was present during the 1939 invasion of Poland and immediately showed its effectiveness as a part of the much-vaunted swift German attacks.
